Detailed information

Product detailed description

Rubio Monocoat · Oil Plus 2C · Made in Belgium

Oil Plus 2C Mist 130 ml. An oil that colours and protects wood in a single coat.

The 130 ml pack (100 ml oil A + 30 ml accelerator B) covers 3–5 m². A new-generation hardwax oil for heavily used interior surfaces — floors, stairs, kitchen and dining tables and bathroom furniture. It is applied in a single coat, does not form a film and, thanks to the accelerator, cures quickly for maximum resistance to wear, water and heat.

Just 1 coat
Why Oil Plus 2C

Apply, wipe dry — and you are done.

Simply spread the oil with a sponge or pad and wipe it dry with a cloth within 15 minutes. No lap marks, no streaks, no fingerprints. Thanks to the accelerator (component B) the surface cures quickly and gains increased durability.

  • Colours and protects in a single coat — no sanding between coats
  • Accelerator = higher resistance to wear and water
  • Does not form a film and does not peel — the natural look of the wood remains
  • Contains no water or solvents (0 % VOC), very low consumption
Molecular bonding technology

Why is one single coat enough?

Oil Plus 2C bonds molecularly with the top wood fibres. It does not create a layer ON the wood but becomes part of it — so a second coat has nothing to adhere to and is unnecessary.

  • No film — it does not peel or crack
  • Damaged spots can be repaired locally, without sanding the whole surface
  • Very low consumption — one coat covers 30–50 m² per litre

Suitable for almost all wood species (solid wood, veneer, MDF) as well as for renovating and maintaining surfaces previously treated with Rubio Monocoat oil.

Step by step

Even your first finish will turn out well

The whole ritual from preparation to full cure — only the 15 minutes between applying and wiping off are critical.

Before application

1 · Prepare the surface

Sand the wood; any old finish must be removed. Vacuum and remove remaining dust with RMC Cleaner.

The mix lasts 4–6 h

2 · Mix 3 : 1

Mix oil A and accelerator B for 1–2 minutes at a ratio of approx. 3 : 1. Use the mixture within 4–6 hours.

Per 5–10 m²

3 · Apply section by section

Spread a small amount with a cloth, sponge or pad. Work in areas of 5–10 m².

⏱ within 15 minutes

4 · Wipe dry

Let the oil react for a few minutes and wipe off all excess until dry. The surface must feel dry to the touch.

24 h → 5 days

5 · Let it cure

In a well-ventilated room the surface can be used after 24–36 hours. Washing with water and RMC soap only after 5–7 days.

⚠️ The most common mistake

The product MUST NOT be thinned with anything and stir the oil (A) thoroughly before application. Excess that is not wiped off stays sticky — always wipe dry within 15 minutes. On large areas mix the packs together for a uniform shade.

What you ask

Frequently asked questions

Is Oil Plus 2C safe for food contact?

Yes, it meets the EN 71-3 standard and is suitable for direct food contact — on serving boards, dining tables and kitchen worktops. We do not recommend it for chopping boards: a knife can cut deeper than the oil penetrates, and the exposed raw wood is then prone to mould.

How many m² will the 390 ml pack cover?

Approximately 12–19.5 m² depending on the wood species and preparation (coverage 30–50 m²/l). The pack contains 300 ml of oil and 90 ml of accelerator.

Do I have to mix the oil with the accelerator?

For the 2C version yes — mix the oil (A) and accelerator (B) at a ratio of approx. 3 : 1. The accelerator ensures fast curing and higher resistance to wear and water. Use the mixture within 4–6 hours.

When can I use and wash the surface?

You can walk on the surface in socks after 24–36 hours. Full cure takes 5 days (80 % in 2 days). Wash with water and Rubio Monocoat soap at the earliest after 5–7 days.

How do I get more sheen?

Universal Maintenance Oil can be applied over cured Oil Plus 2C to raise the sheen level by 6–8 %. It is not applied to raw wood.
