    All you have to do is spread the oil with a sponge or a pad, then wipe it dry with a cloth and you're done - there's no more risk of leaving a thumbprint on the surface when handling your piece!

    Ecological composition and a wide range of colors

    The basis is linseed oil, the other components are mixtures of natural waxes, oils and color pigments , thanks to which we can offer a wide range of color shades already in the standard offer. The colors can be mixed with each other, so you can easily handle requests for special color variations.     Instructions for use

    1. Sand the surface of the wood carefully, any previous coating must be removed. Vacuum with a vacuum cleaner and remove the remaining dust with RMC Cleaner. 
    2. Mix oil with accelerator (1-2 minutes) in a ratio of approximately 3:1 (3 parts oil A and 1 part accelerator B). 
    3. Once the surface is dry after cleaning, spread a small amount of RMC Oil Plus 2C oil (with a cloth, sponge or polishing machine fitted with a beige pad). Work in sections of 5 – 10 m2. 
    4. Allow the oil to react for a few minutes and then wipe off any excess oil (with a rag or polisher fitted with a white pad). Wipe each section within 15 minutes. The surface must be dry to the touch! Complete the entire work in the same way. 
    5. In a well-ventilated room, the surface can be used 24-36 hours after application.

    Maintenance with water and RMC cleaning agents can be carried out after 5-7 days. Rubio® Monocoat must be used for maintenance as a guarantee for long-term durability and surface resistance. 

    Tips and tricks

    • The product MUST NOT be diluted with anything!
    • Mix the oil (A) thoroughly before application.
    • For large areas and when using multiple packages, we recommend mixing them together to achieve a uniform color shade.

    • 20 ml / 100 ml / 275 ml / 1 L / 2,75 L – only RMC Oil Plus 2C (A) does not contain an accelerator
    • 350 ml – set of 275 ml RMC Oil Plus 2C (A) + 75 ml RMC Accelerator (B) 
    • 1.3 l – set 1 l RMC Oil Plus 2C (A) + 0.3 l RMC Accelerator (B)

    FAQ's

    Is Oil Plus 2C safe to use on cutting boards?

    We do not recommend using Oil Plus 2C on cutting boards or butcher blocks that will be used for cutting.

    Rubio Monocoat oil forms a molecular bond with the topmost microns of the wood. A knife can cut deeper than the product penetrates, leaving raw wood exposed and susceptible to mold and or bacteria growth.

    However, as our product is safe to use on food surfaces, it is acceptable to use on charcuterie and serving boards.

    Can I put a lacquer over Oil Plus 2C finish?

    We cannot guarantee adhesion, so you must discuss this with the lacquer manufacturer. 

    Can I use Oil Plus 2C over our existing finish?

    No, Oil Plus 2C must come in contact with raw cellulose in order to properly work. 

    How can I add more sheen?

    Universal Maintenance Oil can be applied over Oil Plus 2C to increase the sheen level by 6-8%. Universal Maintenance Oil should not be applied to raw wood. 

    How soon can I apply Universal Maintenance Oil?

    You can use Universal Maintenance Oil 48 hours after the proper application of Oil Plus 2C. 

    Do I have to use multiple coats for certain species of wood?

    Because the product will not bond to itself, multiple coats are not needed. On softer species like walnut, a second application may be necessary to make sure that all areas have fully had the opportunity to react with the oil. 

    Can I cover floors after they have been finished with Oil Plus 2C?

    Yes, wood floors finished with Oil Plus 2C can be covered with a non-staining construction paper 48 hours after application.

    Please remember:

    • Never tape directly to the floor.
    • Only tape paper to paper.
    • Covering the floor will extend the cure time.

    How long does Rubio Monocoat last?

    A lifetime with proper maintenance. We would expect the first maintenance to be needed somewhere between 2 and 5 years depending on wear. 

    Does Oil Plus 2C work on all wood species?

    Yes 

    What is the recommended sanding grit?

    Recommended final sanding grit is 120 - 150. We recommend sanding according to industry guidelines. 

    What is the Oil Plus 2C curing time?

    Under typical application and drying conditions:

    • 24 hours - Gently handle or walk with socks
    • 48 hours - Furniture can be introduced (no mats or carpets)
    • 5 days - Full cure and liquid resistance.

    How long do I have to wait to walk on the floor after applying Oil Plus 2C?

    You can walk on the floor with dry socks 8 hours after a proper application. However, it is best practice to wait 24-36 hours before walking on the floor.
