Frequently asked questions – sanding and polishing epoxy
How do I sand epoxy resin?
Work from coarser to finer grit without skipping steps: typically K240 → K400 → K800 → K1500 → K2000–K3000. Large areas are best handled by machine sanding with a random orbital sander, edges and details by hand sanding.
Which polishing paste for resin?
After sanding to K2000+, apply a one-step polishing compound and polish with a foam or wool pad at low speed. The result is a mirror gloss without holograms.
Why sand dry?
Dry sanding with the Kovax system lets you check the surface as you go, does not soak the wood with water and, with dust extraction, is faster and cleaner than wet sanding.
