Detailed information

Product detailed description

Den Braven Chemical Anchor POLYESTER S – economical, strong and reliable exterior-grade chemical anchoring system

Den Braven Chemical Anchor POLYESTER S is a two-component polyester injection mortar with styrene, designed as a cost-effective yet powerful alternative to mechanical anchors and expansion plugs. It creates extremely strong, expansion-free bonds, allowing installation close to edges and with reduced anchor spacing.

It is suitable for all common mineral substrates – concrete, solid brick, hollow brick, blocks, natural stone, lightweight concrete – with application temperatures from –5 °C to +35 °C. With its high load-bearing performance, it is ideal for anchoring railings, posts, canopies, shelves, brackets, steel structures, gates, sports equipment, TV mounts and more.

Due to the presence of styrene, it has a characteristic odour which disappears after curing. Therefore, it is intended primarily for outdoor use or very well-ventilated spaces.

Why choose chemical anchoring over mechanical plugs?

  • Extremely strong chemical bond that will not loosen over time

  • No expansion forces -> no cracking of masonry

  • One product for solid and hollow materials (with sleeve)

  • Fast, easy and repeatable application

  • Safe installation close to edges and at reduced anchor spacing

Important considerations before anchoring

  • Maintain minimum spacing between anchors to prevent substrate failure

  • Observe minimum edge distance to avoid cracking

  • Choose anchor type based on:

    • substrate strength

    • load type and direction

    • environmental exposure

    • installation temperature

Anchoring with expansion forces vs. chemical anchoring

  • Mechanical expansion anchors -> require strong substrate, generate pressure, risky near edges

  • Chemical anchors (no expansion pressure) -> styrene or vinylester/polyester resins

-> No stress in the material, therefore usable closer to edges and in weaker materials

POLYESTER S belongs to the chemical, non-expanding anchoring category.

Step-by-step guide – hollow materials

  1. Drill the required holes.

  2. Remove dust with an air pump.

  3. Brush the hole, then blow out dust again.

  4. Insert plastic or metal sleeves (plastic for M6–M14).

  5. Prepare the cartridge (purge first 10 cm until colour is uniform).

  6. Fill the sleeve from the bottom up to the top.

  7. Insert threaded rod with a rotating motion.

  8. Allow full curing time before loading.

Step-by-step guide – solid materials

  1. Drill the hole to the specified diameter and depth.

  2. Clean thoroughly: 4× blow out, 4× brush, 4× blow out.

  3. Prepare the cartridge (discard first 10 cm).

  4. Inject the adhesive from the bottom, filling 1/3–1/2 of the hole.

  5. Insert the rod with a rotating movement.

  6. After full curing (temperature-dependent), tighten and load.

Typical applications

  • TV brackets, consoles, shelves

  • Posts, railings, balcony and terrace fixtures

  • Awnings, pergolas, shelters

  • Steel elements, handrails, tension rods

  • Garage doors, shop windows, steel frames

  • Sports equipment and wall-mounted systems

  • Anchoring into concrete and masonry (solid or hollow)
