Oil Plus 2C Red Velvet 1.3 L. An oil that colours and protects wood in a single coat.
The 1.3 L pack (1 l oil A + 0.3 l accelerator B) covers 39–65 m². Shade Red Velvet — red-brown with a wine-red hint. A new-generation hardwax oil for heavily used interior surfaces — floors, stairs, kitchen and dining tops and bathroom furniture. It is applied in a single coat, forms no film and, thanks to the accelerator, cures quickly for maximum resistance to wear, water and heat.
How Red Velvet looks on different woods
The same shade looks different on every wood — it depends on the species, the grain and the sanding grit. Here is Red Velvet on light oak, yellow pine and dark walnut. The photos are manufacturer samples and on-screen colours are approximate — the manufacturer recommends testing the shade on the same wood, sanded the same way (6 ml sample). Red Velvet oil and accelerator in one pack.
The 1.3 L set contains a 1 l tin of oil A and a 300 ml container of accelerator B — both components in a 3 : 1 ratio. If you use the whole pack, simply pour them together and stir; for a smaller area, measure 3 parts oil to 1 part accelerator and mix only as much as you can use within 4–6 hours.

Apply, wipe dry — and you are done.
Simply spread the oil with a pad, let it react for at least 5 minutes and wipe it dry with a cloth within 30 minutes. No lap marks, no streaks, no fingerprints. Thanks to the accelerator (component B) the surface cures quickly and gains extra resistance.

Why is one single coat enough?
Oil Plus 2C bonds molecularly with the top wood fibres. It does not create a layer ON the wood but becomes part of it — so a second coat has nothing to adhere to and is unnecessary.

Suitable for almost all wood species (solid wood, veneer, MDF) as well as for renovating and maintaining surfaces previously treated with Rubio Monocoat oil.
Even your first finish will turn out well
The whole ritual from preparation to full cure — what matters most is wiping off the excess within 30 minutes of application.
1 · Prepare the surface
Sand the wood to grit 120 (range 100–150) and remove any old finish down to bare wood. Vacuum and remove remaining dust with Rubio Monocoat Raw Wood Cleaner; apply the oil only to a dry surface.
2 · Mix 3 : 1
Stir oil A thoroughly first, then mix it with accelerator B for 1–2 minutes in a ratio of approx. 3 : 1. Use the mixed oil within 4–6 hours.
3 · Apply section by section
Spread a small amount with a Rubio Monocoat pad or a spatula and work it into the wood. Work in sections of 5–10 m².
4 · Wipe dry
Let the oil react for at least 5 minutes and keep spreading it with the pad. Within 30 minutes wipe off all excess with a clean cloth — the surface must feel dry to the touch.
5 · Let it cure
The oil dries in 24 hours. Dry cleaning (vacuum, broom) after 2 days at the earliest, washing with water and Rubio Monocoat soap after 5 days at the earliest.
⚠️ The most common mistake
The product MUST NOT be thinned with anything and stir the oil (A) before application and regularly while you work. Excess that is not wiped off stays sticky — always wipe dry within 30 minutes. On large areas, mix packs from different batches together for an even shade. Rags soaked in oil can self-ignite — soak them in water after use.

The 2C set (oil + accelerator) = fast cure (5 days) and the highest resistance for heavily used surfaces. Oil alone (component A) without accelerator is for lightly used surfaces and takes longer to cure. The 6 and 20 ml samples are for trying out a shade.

Is Oil Plus 2C safe for food contact?
Yes, it meets the EN 71-3 standard and is suitable for direct food contact — on serving boards, dining tables and kitchen worktops. We do not recommend it for chopping boards: a knife can cut deeper than the oil penetrates, and the exposed raw wood is then prone to mould.
How many m² will the 1.3 L pack cover?
Approximately 39–65 m² depending on the wood species and preparation (coverage 30–50 m²/l). The pack contains 1 l of oil and 0.3 l of accelerator.
Will the shade look like the photo?
Only approximately. The result depends on the wood species, the sanding grit and whether the wood was dampened before oiling. The manufacturer recommends making a test sample on the same wood as the final project — that is what the Red Velvet 6 ml sample is for.
Do I have to mix the oil with the accelerator?
For the 2C set, yes — mix oil (A) and accelerator (B) in a ratio of approx. 3 : 1. The accelerator ensures fast curing and higher resistance to wear and water. Use the mixed oil within 4–6 hours.
When can I use and wash the surface?
The oil dries in 24 hours; full cure takes 5 days (80 % in 2 days). Dry cleaning (vacuum, broom) after 2 days at the earliest, washing with water and Rubio Monocoat soap after 5 days at the earliest.
How do I get more sheen?
Universal Maintenance Oil can be applied over cured Oil Plus 2C to raise the sheen level by 6–8 %. It is not applied to raw wood.
