Frequently asked questions – exterior wood protection
How do I protect outdoor wood from greying?
Greying is caused by UV radiation. Prevent it with regular application of an exterior oil with a UV filter – decking once a year, façades according to exposure. Revive greyed wood with a wood reviver first.
How do I treat teak and exotic wood?
Exotic species are naturally oily – use penetrating oils designed for dense exotic woods (teak, acacia, ipe). Degrease the surface and let it dry before application.
When is the best time to treat outdoor wood?
Spring and early autumn at 10–25 °C in dry weather. The wood must be dry (moisture below 15%), otherwise the oil will not penetrate properly.
