What makers use it for

The base that decides the result.

Fast Set Primer seals absorbent substrates before a big pour — and handles quick small pours up to 7 mm too.

A walnut river table — the wood sealed before the main pour

Sealing under river tables

Sealed wood releases no bubbles into the main casting.

Boards with sealed knots and edges in the mould before the main pour

Sealing coat & repairs

Fast sealing of absorbent surfaces and repair of small defects after routing.

A resin ring with colourful inlay — a small pour with Fast Set Primer

Quick small pours

Up to 7 mm — jewellery and decorations you do not want to demould for two days.

Why Fast Set Primer

Seal the substrate. Pour again in two hours.

The low viscosity penetrates deep into fibres and absorbent surfaces — it seals quickly and effectively. No waiting overnight: the main pour follows the same day.

  • Next layer after just 1–2 hours (20 °C)
  • Demoulding after 2–4 hours (23 °C)
  • Effectively reduces or eliminates rising bubbles
  • Repairs of small defects after routing

DIPON quality

The same DNA as the whole LuminaCast range.

Every LuminaCast system is made at DIPON's own production site in Germany: UV absorbers + HALS additives against yellowing, a formulation free of substances on the sVHC and CoRAP lists, and degassing components more than 70 % from renewable sources.

  • UV absorbers + HALS — no yellowing in the long term
  • Free of sVHC and CoRAP substances

Step by step

Your first sealing coat will work out too

1

Check the temperature

Room temperature for material and surroundings. With a fast system, a higher temperature shortens the working time further.

2

Test the substrate

A preliminary compatibility test of the materials you are going to embed.

3

Weigh out exactly 2:1

Always by weight (100:50). Maximum deviation 0.1 % — more means a sticky film or a soft casting.

4

Mix twice for 3–4 minutes

Mix → pour into a clean container → mix again. Max. 300 rpm, ideally with with an Allway Helix mixer.

5

Apply and finish within 15 minutes

A thin sealing layer with a brush or poured, or a pour up to 7 mm. After 1–2 hours overpour with the main system.

⚠️ The most common mistake

Never mix by eye straight from bottles A and B. An inaccurate ratio = incomplete curing. Always weigh both components to the gram. Cleaning tools: acetone or universal thinner, immediately after use.

Selection guide

A set for large castings — resins that belong together

One project, four roles: sealing the substrate, small repairs, medium and large pours. Combine them.

What you ask

Frequently asked questions

How thick a layer can I pour?

1–7 mm in a single layer at 20 °C. Fast Set Primer is built for thin sealing and priming layers, not for deep castings.

How soon can I overpour with the main cast?

After approx. 1–2 hours at 20 °C — hence „Fast Set“. The big pour can start the same day.

Why seal wood before pouring?

Absorbent wood releases air into a fresh casting — bubbles keep rising for hours after pouring. Sealing closes the surface and the main pour stays clear.

How much will 3 kg cast?

3 kg of mixture (components A + B) equals approximately 2.8 l of casting (density 1.07 kg/l). The calculator above works out the exact amount for your project.

Why is 3 kg the most popular pack?

It is the most versatile balance of quantity and storage — approx. 2.8 litres of mixture covers most common projects.
