Starbond Concrete Epoxy Putty 57 g – epoxy putty for concrete, masonry and stone, grey
Code: 8983Product detailed description
An epoxy putty that cures like concrete. Fill the crack, rebuild the corner, sand it within half an hour.
Cement mortar crumbles in thin layers and won’t hold in cracks; liquid epoxy runs off a vertical edge. Concrete Epoxy Putty is a two-part epoxy putty in a stick: cut a piece, knead it with gloves on until it is a uniform grey, and press it exactly where material is missing. It bonds to concrete, masonry, brick, stone and stucco, and once cured its compressive strength is comparable to concrete — it doesn’t sag, doesn’t crack at the edges and doesn’t peel. It starts to set in 3–6 minutes, you can sand, drill and paint it after 20–30 minutes, and it takes full load after 24 hours.
Steps, kerbs, joints, anchors
Wherever a piece of concrete or masonry is missing and mortar wouldn’t hold.
Chipped corners and edges
Steps, kerbs, window sills, posts — model the missing corner and sand it flush once cured.
Cracks and joints
Patios, garage floors, masonry, damaged mortar joints, blocks — press in, smooth off, done.
Anchoring and statue repairs
Loose screws, wall plugs and anchors in concrete; repairs to garden statues and stone features.

Not a coat over the problem. New material where it is missing.
According to the manufacturer, the cured putty has a compressive yield strength of approximately 10,550 psi, roughly 72 MPa — a strength ordinary structural concrete doesn’t reach. That is why it carries a step corner that gets walked on, holds an anchor in a block and won’t crumble out of a damaged joint. Shrinkage below 1 % means the repair keeps exactly the shape you modelled.
- concrete · masonry · brick · stone · stucco · metal · wood · most plastics
- shrinkage below 1 % — no sagging and no cracks at the edges
- once cured, it resists rain, freeze–thaw cycles, sun, oil, moisture and common solvents
- suitable indoors too: odourless, low VOC

Sand and paint after 20–30 minutes.
A cement repair dries overnight; this putty is ready for sanding, drilling, filing, thread cutting and painting in 20–30 minutes. It cures to a dark grey, so it blends in on concrete and blocks even without paint — and where you need an exact match, paint over it with masonry or concrete paint. It reaches full strength in 24 hours.
- sand, drill, file, cut threads, paint — just like concrete
- dark grey shade (Dark Gray) — blends in on concrete, paint only for an exact match
- no measuring, no mixing cups — wrap the rest of the stick and use it next time
Step by step
Gloves, a knife and a few minutes. What matters is kneading thoroughly to a uniform colour.
Prepare the surface
Remove loose concrete, dust and grease; a firm, dry, roughened surface holds best.
Cut and knead
With gloves on, cut off the piece you need and knead until the colour is uniform with no light streaks — about 1 minute.
Press in within 3–6 minutes
Push it into the crack or onto the corner and shape it with your fingers or a spatula; smooth the surface with a wet finger.
Let it set
Sand, drill and paint after 20–30 minutes.
Load after 24 h
Full strength and resistance to water and frost after 24 hours at room temperature.
⚠️ The most common mistake
Under-kneaded putty and no gloves. Light streaks in the putty = uncured spots that will crumble out. Knead to a uniform grey. And always wear gloves — uncured epoxy irritates the skin and can cause an allergic reaction; wash your hands after work.

Times apply at room temperature — cold extends setting, warmth shortens it. With a colder substrate outdoors, allow longer to reach full strength.

FAQ
Strength, outdoor use, anchoring, painting and safety.
Will the repair last outdoors — rain and frost?
Yes. Once cured, the putty resists rain, freeze–thaw cycles and sun according to the manufacturer, which makes it suitable for steps, kerbs and patios. Apply it to a dry substrate and let it cure for 24 hours above freezing.
How strong is it once cured?
The manufacturer states a compressive yield strength of approximately 10,550 psi (≈ 72 MPa) — comparable to or higher than concrete. A repaired step corner will therefore take normal foot traffic. This is the manufacturer’s figure from its infographic, not an independent test.
Can I drill into it and anchor screws?
Yes — after 20–30 minutes you can drill, file and cut threads. Fill a loose wall plug or anchor with putty and screw it back in once cured; the manufacturer also lists anchoring rebar and bolts in concrete.
What colour is it and can it be painted?
It cures to a dark grey and blends in on concrete and blocks even without paint. For an exact match, sand it after 20–30 minutes and paint it with masonry or concrete paint.
How much can I repair with one stick?
The stick weighs 56.7 g. In practice, you cut only as much as the repair needs, wrap the rest back in its film and it keeps until next time — the shelf life is 24 months.
How does it differ from Black and White Epoxy Putty?
The work is the same — cut, knead, press in. Concrete is matched to concrete grey and made for concrete, masonry and stone; Black is an all-purpose black putty for home and workshop; White is white and made for repairs near heat and on light-coloured surfaces.
How do I handle the putty safely?
Uncured putty irritates the skin and eyes and contains epoxy components that can cause an allergic reaction — always knead it with gloves on and protect your eyes, and wash your hands after work. It is toxic to aquatic life: don’t dispose of leftovers in nature or with household waste, hand them in as hazardous waste. Keep out of reach of children. Details in the safety data sheet above.

Fill a knot or a crack with black glue, set it with accelerator and sand it back — the repair blends into the grain. An essential step before pouring epoxy, so the slab doesn’t “leak”.

What you ask us about Starbond
How is Starbond different from an ordinary superglue from the shop?
Industrial-grade cyanoacrylate purity, a precisely defined viscosity and fresh batches. An ordinary glue comes in one thickness and you have no idea how long it sat in a warehouse. Starbond has six viscosities from 2 to 2000 cP, each for a different job, and a 30-month shelf life.
Which viscosity should I pick if I’m not sure?
EM-150 Medium. At 150 cP (roughly motor oil) it will both seep into gaps and fill smaller voids — one glue for wood, stone, ceramics, leather and most plastics. Sets in 10–20 seconds.
What is the accelerator for, and do I need it?
CA glue cures with airborne moisture — the accelerator triggers the reaction instantly. It pays off with thick glues, large fills and on dry wood, where the glue would cure slowly. Spray the other side of the joint, not the glue itself.
How should I store Starbond so it lasts?
Cool, dry and tightly closed — ideally in the fridge (let it warm to room temperature before use, or moisture will condense). Wipe the bottle after use so the neck doesn’t glue shut. Unopened, it lasts 30 months.
