KEG-500 Flexible. A super glue that withstands impact and vibration.
Starbond KEG-500 Flexible is a toughened, rubber-reinforced super glue. Standard super glue is hard and brittle once cured — the joint cracks under impact, flexing or vibration. KEG-500 is less brittle and handles impact better, so it holds even on things used every day: soles, rubber grips, straps, arrows. Medium-thick consistency (500 cPs) and 20–30 seconds to align the parts.
Where does KEG-500 sit on the viscosity scale?
500 cPs is thicker than the all-purpose EM-150 but thinner than the gap-filling EM-2000. It doesn't run straight off a vertical surface and fills small unevenness between parts — yet it is still easy to dose with a microtip.

The manufacturer states 20–30 seconds of positioning time: fit the parts, align them and hold. Once cured, the joint is tougher than with standard super glue — it handles impact, flexing and repeated stress better.

When KEG-500 and when clear EM?
In viscosity KEG-500 sits between EM-150 and EM-2000 — but it differs in toughness. Tip: take KEG-500 wherever the joint will face impact, vibration or flexing; for rigid joints without stress, EM-150 is enough.

For hairline cracks and CA finishes KEG-500 is needlessly thick — choose the thin EM-02 or EM-40.
Storage
- cool (ideally 4.5 °C or below) and dry, with the bottle tightly closed — moisture in the air cures the glue
- protect from sunlight, heat and frost; keep away from water, alcohols, amines and alkalis
- after use wipe the tip and fit the pin cap
- out of reach of children
Frequently asked questions
How does KEG-500 differ from standard super glue?
It is rubber-reinforced. Standard super glue is hard and brittle once cured and cracks under impact or flexing; KEG-500 is less brittle and handles impact and vibration better.
Does KEG-500 bond rubber and leather?
Yes, the manufacturer lists it for rubber, leather, metal, wood, ceramics and stone, including metal–rubber and rubber–plastic combinations — typically soles, grips and straps.
Is the joint as flexible as silicone?
No. Once cured it is a rigid joint, just tougher and less brittle than with standard super glue. For joints that expand and contract significantly, an elastic sealant is more suitable.
How much time do I have to align the parts?
The manufacturer states 20–30 seconds of positioning time. With an accelerator the joint cures instantly.
Is super glue the same as CA glue?
Yes. Super glue, instant glue and CA glue all mean the same type — a cyanoacrylate adhesive that sets by reacting with moisture in the air within seconds to tens of seconds.
How should the glue be stored?
Cool (ideally in the fridge at 4.5 °C or below, not in the freezer) and dry, with the bottle tightly closed. After use, wipe the tip and fit the pin cap.

What you ask us about Starbond
How is Starbond different from an ordinary superglue from the shop?
Industrial-grade cyanoacrylate purity, a precisely defined viscosity and fresh batches. An ordinary glue comes in one thickness and you have no idea how long it sat in a warehouse. Starbond has six viscosities from 2 to 2000 cP, each for a different job, and a 30-month shelf life.
Which viscosity should I pick if I’m not sure?
EM-150 Medium. At 150 cP (roughly motor oil) it will both seep into gaps and fill smaller voids — one glue for wood, stone, ceramics, leather and most plastics. Sets in 10–20 seconds.
What is the accelerator for, and do I need it?
CA glue cures with airborne moisture — the accelerator triggers the reaction instantly. It pays off with thick glues, large fills and on dry wood, where the glue would cure slowly. Spray the other side of the joint, not the glue itself.
How should I store Starbond so it lasts?
Cool, dry and tightly closed — ideally in the fridge (let it warm to room temperature before use, or moisture will condense). Wipe the bottle after use so the neck doesn’t glue shut. Unopened, it lasts 30 months.
