Starbond Wood Epoxy Putty Walnut 57 g – epoxy wood filler putty, walnut
Code: 8990Product detailed description
Epoxy wood filler putty in walnut. Fill the hole, rebuild the edge, sand within minutes.
Ordinary wood filler can sink and crumble once dry, and wax filler cannot be sanded or painted. Wood Epoxy Putty is a two-part epoxy putty in a stick: cut off a piece, knead it with gloves on to a uniform colour and press it exactly where wood is missing — into a nail hole, into a crack, onto a chipped edge. It starts to set in 3–6 minutes, according to the manufacturer you can sand and paint it from 5 minutes, and it reaches full strength in 24 hours. The walnut shade is matched to medium to dark wood such as walnut. The colour of the stick is the colour of the finished repair.
Holes, cracks, chipped edges
Wherever a piece of wood is missing and ordinary filler would fall out.
Holes and cracks
Nail and screw holes, cracks, dents and loose knots — press in, level off, sand.
Chipped corners and edges
Knocked table edges, cabinet and stair corners — model the missing corner and sand it to shape once cured.
Furniture, doors, trim
Drawers, cabinet doors, door frames, skirting boards and trim — a repair you won’t find after sanding and painting.

The colour of the stick is the colour of the repair.
The putty neither darkens nor lightens — the shade you see on the stick is the shade you get once cured. The walnut shade is matched to medium to dark wood such as walnut, so on such wood the repair blends in after sanding. Where you need an exact match with the grain or a stained surface, paint or tint the repair once cured.
- stick colour = cured colour — no surprises once dry
- bonds to solid wood and to most wood-based boards
- made for filling and rebuilding, not for gluing two parts together

No sinking, no cracking, no peeling.
According to the manufacturer, the cured putty has a compressive yield strength of approximately 8,720 psi, roughly 60 MPa. It stays exactly in the shape you gave it — it does not sink into the hole, does not crack at the edges and does not pull away from the wood over time. After 20–30 minutes you can drill a pilot hole for a screw, after 24 hours it takes full load.
- sand, drill, file, paint — just like wood
- withstands heat: 121 °C continuous, 149 °C short-term
- no measuring and no mixing cups — wrap the rest of the stick and use it next time
Step by step
Gloves, a knife and a few minutes. What matters is kneading thoroughly to a uniform colour.
Prepare the repair area
Remove loose fibres, dust, wax and grease; the wood must be dry.
Cut and knead
With gloves on, cut off the piece you need and knead until the colour is uniform with no light streaks — about 1 minute.
Press in within 3–6 minutes
Push it into the hole or onto the edge, shape it with your fingers or a putty knife and slightly overfill; smooth the surface with a wet finger.
Sand and paint
From 5 minutes according to the manufacturer; drill and screw after 20–30 minutes.
Load after 24 h
The putty reaches full strength after 24 hours at room temperature.
⚠️ The most common mistake
Under-kneaded putty and no gloves. Light streaks in the putty = uncured spots that will crumble out. Knead to a uniform colour. And always wear gloves — uncured epoxy irritates the skin and can cause an allergic reaction; wash your hands after work.

Frequently asked questions
Shade, times, painting, materials and safety.
Which wood does the walnut shade suit?
Walnut is made for medium to dark wood: walnut furniture, dark-stained oak, dark doors, door frames and floors. For light wood choose Light Oak, for oak Natural Oak, for cherry and mahogany Cherry Brown, for brown wood Chocolate Brown.
How soon can I sand, drill and load it?
You can shape it for 3–6 minutes after kneading. According to the manufacturer it can be sanded and painted from 5 minutes, drilled and screwed after 20–30 minutes, and it reaches full strength after 24 hours. All times are longer in the cold.
Can the repair be painted, stained or varnished?
Yes — after sanding, paint or varnish it like the surrounding wood. Stain and glaze do not soak into the putty the way they do into wood, so the shade will come out differently; try them first on a cured leftover piece of putty.
Does it hold on chipboard or MDF?
The manufacturer specifies it for regular wood and most wood-based boards. The substrate must be clean, dry and firm — remove loose chips and fibres before the repair.
Can I use it to glue a broken part, such as a chair leg?
No — the putty is made for filling holes and cracks and rebuilding missing edges, not for gluing two parts together. Glue the broken part with liquid 5-Minute Epoxy and then rebuild any missing pieces with the putty.
How much can I repair with one stick?
The stick weighs 56.7 g. Cut off only as much as the repair needs, wrap the rest back up and it keeps until next time — the shelf life is 24 months.
How do I handle the putty safely?
Always knead with gloves on and protect your eyes — uncured epoxy putty can irritate the skin and cause an allergic reaction; wash your hands after work. Don’t dispose of leftovers in nature or with ordinary waste. Keep out of reach of children.

Fill a knot or a crack with black glue, set it with accelerator and sand it back — the repair blends into the grain. An essential step before pouring epoxy, so the slab doesn’t “leak”.

What you ask us about Starbond
How is Starbond different from an ordinary superglue from the shop?
Industrial-grade cyanoacrylate purity, a precisely defined viscosity and fresh batches. An ordinary glue comes in one thickness and you have no idea how long it sat in a warehouse. Starbond has six viscosities from 2 to 2000 cP, each for a different job, and a 30-month shelf life.
Which viscosity should I pick if I’m not sure?
EM-150 Medium. At 150 cP (roughly motor oil) it will both seep into gaps and fill smaller voids — one glue for wood, stone, ceramics, leather and most plastics. Sets in 10–20 seconds.
What is the accelerator for, and do I need it?
CA glue cures with airborne moisture — the accelerator triggers the reaction instantly. It pays off with thick glues, large fills and on dry wood, where the glue would cure slowly. Spray the other side of the joint, not the glue itself.
How should I store Starbond so it lasts?
Cool, dry and tightly closed — ideally in the fridge (let it warm to room temperature before use, or moisture will condense). Wipe the bottle after use so the neck doesn’t glue shut. Unopened, it lasts 30 months.
